Our Mission

“The mission of the Virginia Tech Rescue Squad (VTRS) is to provide the highest level of emergency medical services to the students, faculty, staff, and visitors of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. VTRS shall extend these services to the county and commonwealth when called upon to do so. All members of the VTRS uphold a dedication to training, education, and outreach while committing themselves to the principle of Ut Prosim.”

Part 3 - Pre-probate Week

  • February 2nd through 4th
  • Need to attend at least 4 hours of events by the application deadline to learn more about the agency, ask questions, and interact with members
    • Cookout Sunday 2/1 (6pm-9pm)
    • Open house Monday through Wednesday from 10a-4p
    • Training scenario Tuesday 7pm at the station
    • Be sure to check in with a member so they can record your time in/out
    • The information session does not count towards the 4 hours

Part 4 - Interviews

  • After reading through applications, you may be offered an interview slot via an email

  • SignUp Genius will be sent by email for day/time slot

  • There will be 1 round of interviews:
    • February 5th through 7th, Public Safety Building

INTERVIEW ELIGIBILITY

  • Minimum of 4 hours spent at events

  • Only Freshman and Sophomores eligible, unless you are a junior planning to take an extra year (2.5 years of service)

  • Written application submitted by Wednesday at 6pm
    • Past experiences valued but not required

  • Positive interactions with VTRS members
