Essential Questions
ROLE OF THE CAREER DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
The Career Development Coordinator’s (CDC) role is to support Career and Technical Education (CTE) and to coordinate career development services for students participating in CTE . The CDCs facilitate linkages with parents, business/industry, postsecondary institutions, and community organizations to support students' transition to postsecondary education and employment.
SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE CAREER DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
CAREER DEVELOPMENT:
► Coordinate career development services, promote career awareness, exploration, and planning.
► Provide career development, occupational, labor market, non-traditional career, and post secondary
information.
PREPARATORY SERVICES:
► Assists students with selection of appropriate academic and CTE courses.
► Coordinate career planning activities in classrooms, groups, or individual sessions.
► Provide and coordinate administration and interpretation of career assessments.
► Provide information on postsecondary education programs and employment opportunities.
► Assist students with postsecondary education and employment opportunities.
TRANSITION SERVICES:
► Facilitate work-based learning opportunities.
► Provide and coordinate activities for students to develop employability skills.
► Promote the integration of career research and work-based learning opportunities into CTE and
academic courses.
► Promote the use of technology for career planning and research.

The attainment of an industry-recognized certification or credential ensures that students graduate from high school globally competitive for work and postsecondary education.

Work-based learning includes strategies that allow schools to go beyond the classroom and into the community to gain vital experiences.

To be considered for NTHS a student must:

Students must SIGN UP to indicate interest in joining NTHS.
After signing up, student qualifications will be reviewed and an update will be sent via email.

CHHS offers 11 Course Pathways in which students can earn a Major or CTE Concentration.

CTE Concentrators
A CTE concentrator is a student who has successfully earned a CTE credit in a concentrator level course in a specific Career Pathway.
All CTE Concentrators are required to take the WorkKeys assessment their senior year.

Career Development Plan
A career development plan is a document outlining your career goals and the path you can take to reach them.
Every CTE student should have a CDP that is reviewed and updated yearly, as your plans or interests might change throughout your high school years.

Your Holland Code helps you understand how your interests overlap or how they may be distinctly different. Interests that are most similar are beside each other on the hexagon (e.g., Social, Enterprising, and Conventional). On the other hand, interests across the hexagon from each other (e.g., Conventional and Artistic) are least likely to have similarities.
