Question 16: In your own words, what would be the number one cause for you to decide to change professions?

Thematic Analysis- When reviewing the collected data from over 100 participants, the common themes for deciding to change professions were lack of support from administration and parents, negative student and family behaviors, low salary, and overwhelming workload. Responses further included that staff felt that “administration and parents do not respect or appreciate teachers” nor did they respond to “negative behaviors with appropriate consequences”. Participants felt “over worked” and their “mental health was at risk”.

33 of 35

Question 17: If you chose to change professions, what field would you sway towards?

However, the most common response was one of uncertainty. Responses included were “unsure”, “I have no idea”, and “anything else but this”.
