I can love the Lord with all my heart
I can love the Lord with all my heart
SCRIPTURE
4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
13 Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.
14 Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you;
18 And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of the LORD: that it may be well with thee…
- Deuteronomy 6:4-5,13-14,18
I can love the Lord with all my heart
Ezra Taft Benson
President of the Church
1985 - 1994
To love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength is all-consuming and all-encompassing. It is no lukewarm endeavor. It is total commitment of our very being—physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually—to a love of the Lord. The breadth, depth, and height of this love of God extend into every facet of one’s life. Our desires, be they spiritual or temporal, should be rooted in a love of the Lord. Our thoughts and affections should be centered on the Lord…
Why did God put the first commandment first? Because He knew that if we truly loved Him we would want to keep all of His other commandments…When we put God first, all other things fall into their proper place or drop out of our lives.
- President Ezra Taft Benson, “The Great Commandment- Love the Lord,”General Conference, April 1988
I’ll Go Where You Want Me to Go(Hymn Book #270)
MUSIC
1. It may not be on the mountain height
Or over the stormy sea,
It may not be at the battle’s front
My Lord will have need of me.
But if, by a still, small voice he calls
To paths that I do not know,
I’ll answer, dear Lord, with my hand in thine:
I’ll go where you want me to go.
2. Perhaps today there are loving words
Which Jesus would have me speak;
There may be now in the paths of sin
Some wand’rer whom I should seek.
O Savior, if thou wilt be my guide,
Tho dark and rugged the way,
My voice shall echo the message sweet:
I’ll say what you want me to say.
Text: Mary Brown, 1856–1918

3. There’s surely somewhere a lowly place
In earth’s harvest fields so wide
Where I may labor through life’s short day
For Jesus, the Crucified.
So trusting my all to thy tender care,
And knowing thou lovest me,
I’ll do thy will with a heart sincere:
I’ll be what you want me to be.
Chorus:
I’ll go where you want me to go, dear Lord,
Over mountain or plain or sea;
I’ll say what you want me to say, dear Lord;
I’ll be what you want me to be.
I can love the Lord with all my heart
“Teach [the Lord’s words] diligently unto thy children.”
“Teach [the Lord’s words] diligently unto thy children.”
SCRIPTURE
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
- Deuteronomy 6:6-9
“Teach [the Lord’s words] diligently unto thy children.”
Anne G. Wirthlin
Former Member of the Primary General Presidency
Our Father in Heaven wants us to teach His children, to teach them who they really are, and to bring them to the Savior…And the counsel of the Lord, though given hundreds of years ago through Moses to the children of Israel, is as if He were speaking to us today…Remember the Lord’s commandment to the Israelites to, first, put His words in their hearts, and then He said, “Teach them diligently unto thy children”…
At times our most impressionable teaching happens when we don’t even realize that we’re teaching. I remember as a teacher…One of the girls said that she knew that her mother loved to read the scriptures. She held up her scriptures and said, “I can tell where she has been in the house by where I find her scriptures.” I have remembered that example over the years and thought how natural it would have been for that mother to transmit a love of the scriptures to her children, because she had developed that love herself.

Teach Me to Walk in the Light (Children’s Songbook #177)
MUSIC
1. (Child) Teach me to walk in the light of his love;
Teach me to pray to my Father above;
Teach me to know of the things that are right;
Teach me, teach me to walk in the light.
2. (Parent) Come, little child, and together we'll learn
Of his commandments, that we may return
Home to his presence, to live in his sight--
Always, always to walk in the light.
3. (Both) Father in Heaven, we thank thee this day
For loving guidance to show us the way.
Grateful, we praise thee with songs of delight!
Gladly, gladly we'll walk in the light.

How Can I Show My Gratitude to God?
How Can I Show My Gratitude to God?
SCRIPTURE
2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.
11 Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:
12-14 Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein; And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied; Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;
17 And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.
- Deuteronomy 8:2,11-14,17
How Can I Show My Gratitude to God?
Henry B. Eyring
Of the First Presidency
[W]e so easily forget that we came into life with nothing. Whatever we get soon seems our natural right, not a gift. And we forget the giver. Then our gaze shifts from what we have been given to what we don’t have yet…God has used one method over and over to help with that problem of remembering…Confronting death and difficulty does return memory and therefore gratitude to righteous people as well as the wicked. But there must be another way to remember, one we can choose.
There is. A servant of God named King Benjamin taught it to his people and to us. He taught them that none of us is above another because we are all dust, to which God has given life and then sustained it… “[E]ven so I would that ye should remember, and always retain in remembrance, the greatness of God, and your own nothingness, and his goodness and long-suffering towards you, unworthy creatures…” How can you and I remember, always, the goodness of God[?]…You could begin a private prayer with thanks. You could start to count your blessings…Remembrance is the seed of gratitude which is the seed of generosity.

Count Your Blessings(Hymn Book #241)
MUSIC
1. When upon life’s billows you are tempest-tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings; name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.
2. Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings; ev’ry doubt will fly,
And you will be singing as the days go by.
3. When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you his wealth untold.
Count your many blessings; money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven nor your home on high.
4. So amid the conflict, whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged; God is over all.
Count your many blessings; angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.

Helping the needy involves generous hands and willing hearts
SCRIPTURE
7 If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:
8 But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.
10 Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto.
11 For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.
- Deuteronomy 15:7-8,10-11
Helping the needy involves generous hands and willing hearts
Linda K. Burton
Former Relief Society General President
We cannot do the difficult things we have been asked to do without help. Help comes through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, the guidance of the Holy Ghost, and the helping hands of others…You have something to give and are willing to give it. You do this without fanfare or publicity, drawing attention to the God we worship, not yourselves, and with no thought of what you will receive. That’s what disciples do!
…As true disciples, may we offer our willing hearts and our helping hands to hasten His work…It does not matter if we are not yet perfect and complete. We are devoted disciples who reach out and help each other along the way...

Have I Done Any Good(Hymn Book #223)
MUSIC
1. Have I done any good in the world today?
Have I helped anyone in need?
Have I cheered up the sad and made
someone feel glad?
If not, I have failed indeed.
Has anyone's burden been lighter today
Because I was willing to share?
Have the sick and the weary been
helped on their way?
When they needed my help was I there?
Text and music: Will L. Thompson, 1847-1909, alt.

2. There are chances for work all around just now,
Opportunities right in our way.
Do not let them pass by, saying,
"Sometime I'll try,"
But go and do something today.
'Tis noble of man to work and to give;
Love's labor has merit alone.
Only he who does something helps others to live.
To God each good work will be known.
Chorus:
Then wake up and do something more
Than dream of your mansion above.
Doing good is a pleasure, a joy beyond measure,
A blessing of duty and love.

Prophets teach us about Jesus Christ
Prophets teach us about Jesus Christ
SCRIPTURE
15 The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;
17-18 And the LORD said unto me[…] I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
- Deuteronomy 18:15,17-19
Prophets teach us about Jesus Christ
Neil L. Andersen
Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
While we sustain the prophet as the Lord’s anointed, let it be clear that we worship only God, our Heavenly Father, and His divine Son. It is through the merits, the mercy, and the grace of our Savior, Jesus Christ, that we can one day enter again into Their presence. But Jesus also taught an important truth about the servants He sends to us. “He that receiveth you,” He said, “receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.” The most important role of the Lord’s prophet is to teach us of the Savior and lead us to Him…Why do we follow the prophet? Because the Lord Jesus Christ has called him and designated him as His watchman on the tower.
…The Savior said, “All the prophets … have testified of me.” A prophet does not stand between you and the Savior. Rather, he stands beside you and points the way to the Savior.
- Elder Neil L. Andersen, “The Prophet of God,”General Conference, April 2018
Follow the Prophet(Children’s Songbook #110)
MUSIC
1. Adam was a prophet, first one that we know.
In a place called Eden, he helped things to grow.
Adam served the Lord by following his ways.
We are his descendants in the latter days.
2. Enoch was a prophet; he taught what was good.
People in his city did just what they should.
When they were so righteous that there was no sin,
Heav’nly Father took them up to live with him.
3. Noah was a prophet called to preach the word,
Tried to cry repentance, but nobody heard.
They were busy sinning—Noah preached in vain.
They wished they had listened when they saw the rain.
4. Abraham the prophet prayed to have a son,
So the Lord sent Isaac as the chosen one.
Isaac begat Jacob, known as Israel;
Jacob’s sons were twelve tribes, so the Bible tells.
5. Moses was a prophet sent to Israel.
He would lead them to the promised land to dwell.
They were slow to follow, or so it appears.
They were in the wilderness for forty years.
Words and music: Duane E. Hiatt, b. 1937. © 1989 IRI
6. Samuel was a prophet chosen as a boy.
Hannah promised God her son would serve with joy.
In the tabernacle, Samuel heard his name;
He was called by God and answered, “Here I am!”
7. Jonah was a prophet, tried to run away,
But he later learned to listen and obey.
When we really try, the Lord won’t let us fail:
That’s what Jonah learned deep down inside the whale.
8. Daniel was a prophet. He refused to sin;
So the king threw Daniel in the lion’s den.
Angels calmed the lions, and the king soon saw
Daniel’s pow’r was great, for he obeyed God’s law.
9. Now we have a world where people are confused.
If you don’t believe it, go and watch the news.
We can get direction all along our way,
If we heed the prophets—follow what they say.
Chorus:
Follow the prophet, follow the prophet,
Follow the prophet; don’t go astray.
Follow the prophet, follow the prophet,
Follow the prophet; he knows the way.

Keeping my covenants brings great blessings
Keeping my covenants brings great blessings
SCRIPTURE
29:9 Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.
30:9 And the LORD thy God will make thee plenteous in every work of thine hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy land, for good: for the LORD will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers:
10 If thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, and if thou turn unto the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.
16 In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.
- Deuteronomy 29:9; 30:9-10,16
Keeping my covenants brings great blessings
D. Todd Christofferson
Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
What is it about making and keeping covenants with God that gives us the power to smile through hardships, to convert tribulation into triumph, to “be anxiously engaged in a good cause…and bring to pass much righteousness”? First, as we walk in obedience to the principles and commandments of the gospel of Jesus Christ, we enjoy a continual flow of blessings promised by God in His covenant with us. Those blessings provide the resources we need to act rather than simply be acted upon as we go through life…
I testify that God will keep His promises to you as you honor your covenants with Him. He will bless you…He will strengthen and finish your faith.
- Elder D. Todd Christofferson, “The Power of Covenants,”General Conference, April 2009
Dearest Children, God is Near You(Hymn Book #96)
MUSIC
1. Dearest children, God is near you,
Watching o’er you day and night,
And delights to own and bless you,
If you strive to do what’s right.
He will bless you, He will bless you,
If you put your trust in him.
2. Dearest children, holy angels
Watch your actions night and day,
And they keep a faithful record
Of the good and bad you say.
Cherish virtue! Cherish virtue!
God will bless the pure in heart.
3. Children, God delights to teach you
By his Holy Spirit’s voice.
Quickly heed its holy promptings.
Day by day you’ll then rejoice.
Oh, prove faithful, Oh, prove faithful
To your God and Zion’s cause.
