This year, our district curriculum committee identified a number of items through our research that we felt to be the most important areas of focus in preparing students for the future. We then asked staff, students, and community members to narrow the field to six items. The following items were identified as the most important areas of focus for West Islip.

2023-24 School Year

  • Informational campaign - Spread the word about the Profile of a Graduate: Superintendent’s Conference Day

  • Finalize definitions for each of the profile traits including grade level exemplar bands

Beyond the 2023-24 School Year

  • Identify how these traits will be fostered in each content area
  • Utilize the profile as a “North Star” for teaching and learning across the district.
