Why should one join a professional organization?

One should join a professional organization to see how other professionals perform or carry out their work, and to learn different strategies employed. With technology, we can learn from professionals and experts, the creativity and framework used to enhance educational success, and how to transform learning into technology.

What can a teacher expect to learn from these professional organizations?

A teacher can learn from these organizations after joining by attending conferences which can be face-to-face collaboration to deepen our connection with the Professional Learning Network. (Fingal, 2023). Collaboration is enhance through educators sharing ideas.

How I am benefited from the ISTE association?

I will benefit from the ISTE association by learning and creating ways to improve my instruction through the various technology tools. As a professional learning community, it allows me to build strong and lasting relationships with other professionals and to share new ideas.

The student population who would benefit most is the lower-level students.

  • A teacher learns how to create an online learning environment or community to promote equity and inclusion where students have the opportunity to succeed equitably at the same level as other peers.
  • Also, a teacher learn how to provide instant or regular feedback and create interactive activities, for eg., games to make learning.
  • It helps a teacher to reimagine what learning can be by utilizing technology and how to use these technology tools to enhance learning.

A teacher can create options to promote various means of collaboration, and learning engagement. The teacher can have options to use various technology tools to meet the needs of students with different learning disability.

How does this resource help me to serve my students?

Students will be more engaged in employing the various technology tools to assist in learning. Assistive technology will help students with disability to hear the sounds of words and also display text size for students’ learning. For technology tools with built in dictation features, will speak the answers students would instead write on a keyboard.

What student population would benefit the most?

The student population I see benefiting the most is students with disability and special needs.

Recent ISTE EdTech Conference

Blended Learning in 90 days. The presenters were Jeff Kish and Marcia Kish. They spoke about ways to set up a true blended learning classroom in 90 days. The audience was coaches and teachers at an intermediate level. The technology devices used are laptops, Chromebook, Macs, PC, Tablets, Android, iOS, Windows, and smartphones. The targeted school population is PK - 12 and the subject area is Language arts and Math.

They encourage educators to team with other educators to create a genuine learning experience with the use of technology. That is to create and cause the learning experience to be personalized which promotes independent learning and helps increase independent learning. It also cultivates a culture where students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning.

2 Sessions I would have been interested in attending, and why?

I would be interested in attending the Blended Learning in 90 days conference as I want to use technology tools to create a genuine learning experience. I would learn ways for students to be independent learners and how to take ownership of their learning.

I would also, be interested in attending the conference, Encourage collaboration and Problem-Solving with Digital Breakout Games. This will help students to use technology to have fun in learning by the use of Google forms and google sites where they collaborate with other students regarding problem-solving and they will nurture content knowledge development.
