Forces for AWI scenarios

  • The AWI was characterised by a lower proportion of cavalry and artillery, when compared with European battles of the period.
  • Roll for forces as normal, and then adjust the result as follows
  • If the Crown force includes 2 cavalry units, one must be replaced by Grenadiers (as Infantry, but doing d6+2 damage), The other one may also be replaced
  • If the Rebel force includes 2 cavalry units, one must be replaced by Rifles (as Skirmisher, but with 18” range), The other one may also be replaced
  • If the Crown force includes 2 artillery units, one must be replaced by Militia (as Infantry, but doing d6-2 damage), The other one may also be replaced
  • If the Rebel force includes 2 artillery units, one must be replaced by Militia (as Infantry, but doing d6-2 damage), The other one may also be replaced

Bunker Hill June 17, 1775

  • Red deploys 6 units within 6" of the South edge
  • Blue deploys 4 units within 24” of the North edge..
  • The redoubt can hold 2 units. It provides cover (1/2 hits) and is on top of a hill. Cavalry may not enter it.
  • A unit immediately behind the stone wall & fence does not break until it suffers 3 extra hits.
  • Red wins if at any time there are no Blue units more than 12" from the West edge
  • Historic forces:Red has 1 Artillery, 1 Skirmisher, 4 InfantryBlue has 1 Artillery, 2 Skirmishers, 1 Infantry
  • Variations for balance:Blue infantry are Militia (see Forces)One Red infantry unit is a Grenadier unit (see Forces)The stone wall provides full cover (½ hits)The ground between Moulton's hill and the stone wall is muddy and all infantry move at half speed across it
