“Time to Think” is a broad concept invented by Nancy Kline to generally promote reflection in a structured way. The tool presented here is to integrate a bit of reflection time into existing meetings, e.g. one-to-ones.

Thinking Pair/s - 3 steps

  1. Formulate the question you want to think about �
  2. 5 minutes Person 1 to share the thoughts about the question

5 minutes Person 2 to share

1 minute Appreciation: Some words what you appreciated about the other � (not about the content, about the person).

  1. 3 minutes to harvest the “freshest, most inspiring thoughts” �(as pair or in the group)�
  2. Attention: Listening with respect, genuine interest and without interruption
  3. Equality: Treating each other as thinking peers, giving equal turns and attention, keeping boundaries and agreements
  4. Ease: Offering freedom from internal rush or urgency
  5. Appreciation: What I appreciate about you is…�(see slide No 7)
