SAC Background

  • In 2009, the State of CO passed SB 09-163, the Education Accountability Act that mandated every public school have a SAC.

  • In 2013, the state passed SB 13-193, legislation focused on increasing parent engagement in public school, which added to the responsibility of SAC.

  • Advising the Principal with the preparation of the UIP
  • Making Recommendations regarding the priorities for school funds
  • Meet at least 4 times a year
  • Topical Discussions
  • General Community Feedback
  • Increase parent engagement

  • Be Kind and respectful to all parties.
  • Assume Positive Intent
  • Do not discuss personal issues, including hiring or evaluation of staff members.
  • Do not discuss individual student concerns.
  • Remember this is an advisory committee to help the principal make decisions.
