If you are helping check out a class: When a class comes in they’ll lay them on the counter. Please check them in and put . After checking in books, scan their check out slips and organize them by who can check out 3 books, 2 books, 1 book and 0.
How to Navigate the Mayo Library!
There are six major sections of books in the Mayo Library. Each is clearly labeled with large letters or a decorative sign.
The following slides provide the name of the section, a description, and the library spine label that goes there.
Easy Reader Area
The Easy Reader area is for beginning readers. Nonfiction ER (Easy Readers) are organized by subject while Fiction books are organized by level in the plastic tubs.

Everybody Area
The Everybody area is for picture books. This is a very popular section.

Branches Books
Branches books are a series that helps readers “branch” from Easy Readers to Chapter Books.
We have a specific section in the library by the Everybody books for these special titles.

Facts about real people
Nonfiction Area
Nonfiction books are about real subjects (i.e. weather, dinosaurs etc.)
These books are ordered by Dewey Decimal number which corresponds to the specific subject.

The Fiction section contains chapter books. These stories are organized by the author’s last name.

Books that are nominated for the Sequoyah award this year are located on this shelf.

The Graphic Novel section is a collection of a novel in comic-strip format. This section is organized by the author’s last name too.
