There is increased ethnic diversity as distinctive areas emerge, such as the Asian community which accounts for 39% of the population in Newham, east London.

The age structure could also change because of the the younger age-profile of immigrants who are also more likely to have children. An example of this can be found in Newham, where there are a large amount of 20-30 year olds.

Assess the reasons why less people are going to watch B&HA this season compared last?

There are several reasons why less people are going to B&HA games season.

One reason is the threat of catching Covid.Although most of the adult population are double vaccinated, many children aren’t and parents might be worried that their kids will catch the disease in compact crowds of over 20,000 people. This is significant as over half of B&HA’s supporters last season were children aged under16.

Another significant factor is the cost. Season ticket prices have risen 20% from last season and at a time when many adults have been furloughed or lost their jobs over lockdown, a family of 2 adults and 2 children now costs £1500 for season , which is too expensive for many.

Finally, some people feel that not enough public transport is provided by the club for supporters to travel to games at the Amex. Traffic from cars going to the game is an increasing issue, and trains running from Brighton station to the stadium aren’t as frequent as they were last season. This is significant because the average family is now spending 4.5 horse of their Saturday travelling too and watching the games, and some families feel that time is better spent on other, less time demanding activities.

In conclusion, although all of the reasons have played a part in B&HA’s attendances decreasing thai year, I think the most important factor is the threat of Covid, as this could endanger people’s lives if it is contracted, and children are known to be spreaders who could pass it onto older relatives.
