Goal 1: Understand Fascism

Students will explore the signs and dangers of fascism in a historical context, in order to better understand modern iterations

Over the course of the first week

  • Students will read Book One: Europe After the Reign (pg. 7-86)
  • Discuss the historical context of the novel
  • Look into the historical context of antifascism from pre-WWII to 2003

Historical exploration will be done in class, to allow students to focus on reading at home

Goal 2: Relevance of antifascism

Students will explore more modern iterations of fascism around the world, and dive deeper into the specific actions that have been taken place in direct response. Comparing this to the text’s version of it.

Research into worldwide antifascist efforts, with examples being Greece and Golden Dawn , France and Marie Le Pen, etc.

Deep dive into the Jan. 6th 2021 Capital Insurrection and what lead to it
