About The Artist and Painting

Vincent Van Gogh painted this picture of Dr Gachet, who took care of him during the last few months of his life. In the painting, you can see Dr. Gachet resting his head on his hand with a unhappy look on his face. Van Gogh said the look was to show “the heartbroken expression of our time.” Van Gogh used oil paint on canvas to create this painting.

Personal Response

I chose to purchase this painting because I really love the color scheme and texture of the painting style. Also, I have always admired Vincent Van Gogh’s painting styles. This painting stuck out to me because it shows a lot of emotion in Dr. Gachet’s face and in the way he is resting his head.
