School Distributed Devices

School Distributed Devices:

We are currently working to give our 3, 4 and 5th grade students chromebooks in preparation for the NYS ELA, Math and Science (grade 5 only), exams. Students who are in grades 3, 4 and 5 and have school distributed iPads must return the iPads and chargers to their teacher. We have been ordering additional chromebooks to meet the number of students who are still in need and we hope to have them delivered in the next few weeks. iPads that are returned will be given to our lower grades.

Please know that we are not able to replace broken devices and/or missing chargers.

All students and families who receive school devices, iPads or Chromebooks, are responsible for the care of these devices.

These devices can not be used for personal use and personal email accounts cannot be entered onto a school distributed device.

Devices should only be used at school and if needed, at home using the student’s NYCDOE email account that ends in nycstudents.net, ex. johnr@nycstudents.net.

Safer Access Door- Main Entrance

Safer Access Doors:

Beginning Wednesday, October 16th, PS 398Q will start our Safer Access Door system. This is another level of building safety that the DOE has been installing in schools across NYC. This new safety measure will include the following changes for entry into our building:

From 8:45am-2:15 pm and again from 3:00pm-4:15pm (after school program sessions) each school day, all main entrance doors will be locked. To enter the school building, all visitors will have to use the Safer Access Door intercom at the main entrance and our School Safety Agent will speak through the intercom and unlock the door to enter the building.

-All visitors must have valid, physical identification to enter our school building. We do not accept identification that is a picture on cell phones. Photocopies of identification are also not an acceptable form of identification.
