Luther lit the spark but others like Tyndale followed. We also a king inspired to challenge the church once more. So many before tried and failed – was this the time for change?

Luther’s �Challenge

Luther nailed 95 arguments (theses) to the door of the local church for all to see.

They focused on ending indulgences and challenging the Pope.

The Pope’s �Response

Luther was excommunicated after he refused to take back his statements.

His ideas spread very rapidly over Europe despite the church’s response.

So they made some changes.

The Reformation had greatly changed the power of the Pope in Europe.

The church in Europe went from being nearly 100% Catholic to a split among many types of Christianity.

Missionaries from each side carried their message, and language, to the New World.
