Increase student learning with high quality standards-based instruction that is tailored to meet the individual needs of every student, ensuring that all students are challenged and supported to master grade level standards.

Strategies and Activities

  • English Learner support through daily designated ELD/SLD time.

  • All Students will benefit from teacher/staff collaboration during weekly school-wide and monthly district-wide PLCs (Early Release Wednesdays). Teachers will collaborate on best practices to meet individual student needs in ELA, Writing, Math, and science.

  • Reading intervention will be available for students identified through DIBELS and district grade-level assessments.

  • All students will use online programs such as Dreambox and Lexia, based on state standards for ELA and math, to personalize student learning pathways and fill gaps in knowledge.

  • Classrooms will participate in big/little buddies. where younger students are paired with older students for relationship building to contribute to a positive school climate.

  • Celebrate holidays and traditions of cultures that are represented on our campus. This would include Dia de los Muertos and Hispanic Heritage Month, and our Cultural Night Open House. Families will be invited to attend celebrations during and after school.

  • Principal sends out weekly school updates to share information on upcoming PFA, ELAC, and school-wide events with information on how to participate.

  • All communication is sent home in both English and Spanish to encourage broader participation.

  • Aliso and Canalino Schools are getting together twice a year for collaborative sports activities. These events are designed to build friendships, teamwork, and a sense of unity among our students, preparing them to enter Carpinteria Middle School with a shared foundation.

  • Collaborate with parent groups, ELAC and Parents for Aliso (PFA) to support home-to-school literacy initiatives and parent involvement activities such as Trunk or Treat, Book Fair, and Holiday Store.

  • Monthly Family Picnic days and Family Dinner Nights to build positive relationships with families.

  • Host Coffee / Tea with the Principal throughout the year.
