Who has already visited our campus?

• Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School is a public school that serves both middle school and high school students (grades 7 through 12). 
• Founded in 1964.
• 1 of only 2 schools that offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program. 
• The school’s mascot is the Minuteman.

• During the Revolutionary War, Minutemen provided a highly mobile, rapidly deployed force that enabled the colonies to respond quickly to military threats.
• The Minutemen got their name because they were always ready at a minute's notice.

• As a 7^th or 8^th grader, you have the rare opportunity to earn a place on a Varsity (high school) sports team. Most middle schools are stand along schools and do not have this option.

• Brian Johnson (college baseball), 2009 graduate, All-American baseball player for the University of Florida^[8] Professional baseball player. Coaches our Baseball Team

If the high school program, Digital Design is intriguing to your middle schooler, they should take Introduction to Arts and A/V Technology in 7th grade with either Computer Applications or Explo Technology and Digital Info Tech in 8th grade.

If the high school Marketing Program is intriguing to your middle schooler, they should take Introduction to Arts and A/V Technology with Computer Applications in middle school.

​

If the high school Technical Design Program is intriguing to your middle schooler, they should take Exploring Technology and Exploring Engineering Technology (any order) in middle school.

​

If the high school Nutrition & Food Science Program is intriguing to your middle schooler, they should take Fundamentals of Culinary Careers in middle school. Can be taken in both 7th and 8th grades.

• Not sure if you are ready for a high school level math or world language class?
• FSA Level 4 or 5 is recommended
• Or take Middle School level Intro to Spanish and French (one semester of each)

• "Don’t worry about the older kids.  They are really nice." 
• "It is easier to make friends than I thought it would be."
• "Practice using your lock so you feel more confident. 
• Locks are issued by the school so don’t buy one!

WHAT TO EXPECT…

• 7 different teachers/classes
• Different students in each class
• Can use a locker to keep your books and supplies. MUST use a lock provided by the school. 
• You get to choose where you sit at lunch (Inside cafeteria, courtyard, concession stand)
• No recess, but some freedom after lunch
• Elective options – that YOU get to choose, but they are graded/show on report cards (based on availability/class size)
• Dress out/change for PE (required)
• Before and after school clubs and sports

WHAT TO EXPECT…

• School begins at 8:45
• 5 minutes between classes
• If you request a schedule change, your lunch could change.
• A or B lunch is based on what building your 4^th period class is located
• You may not request to change your lunch!
• 7^th – 12^th graders are mixed together at lunch
• School dismisses at 3:30
• School dismisses at 2:15 on early release days
