  • CSU the top one-third (33.3%) of the California high school graduating class.

There is more than one way to get to a single destination.

Eligible Vs. Competitive

13 of 41

Let’s Talk about Impaction

  • Admissions to UC’s and Cal States is highly competitive (meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admissions to a campus or specific major).
  • Campus/major impaction means there are more qualified applicants than there is space available. These campuses/majors typically admit students who far exceed minimum GPA & course requirements.
    • UC’s also have capped/highly selective majors that require supplemental admissions requirements.
  • We recommend students apply to a broad range of schools that range in their admissions selectivity.

CSU Impaction

CSu Major Impaction

Campuses that are not impacted, may have have programs (majors) that are. For information on major impaction visit link.

All undergraduate programs, pre-programs, and undeclared/undecided programs are impacted for the following campuses. Admissions is highly competitive:

  • Cal Poly San Luis Obispo
  • Fresno State
  • CSU Fullerton
  • Cal State LA
  • CSU Long Beach
  • San Diego State University
  • San José State
