Cocoa Cart

December 12: Cocoa given out after Choir Performance

Learnings: Need more than one parent to distribute. Look for another event/ after school opportunity next year (Jan or Feb)

  • Setup production line to hand out premixed cups of cocoa instead of expecting the line to move
  • Second hot water heater is necessary when there is a large influx of parents (future upgrade)
  • Remind parents to assist children with getting their cocoa might smooth bottlenecks
  • Kids loved the marshmallows!
  • Cold water pitcher helped kids balance out the cocoa temperature - crucial
  • Cart - $50 (Sale Price!), Hot Water Heater: $100, 100 bags of Cocoa: $10, Marshmallows: $10,
  • Project is within budget and set for future deployments

Teacher Breakfast - Dec 14

Learnings:

Thank you to all of the donations from talented and generous parents.Teacher Breakfast can be run smoothly with one parent that arrives early, at 7 AM. Event staggers throughout the morning.

Prepackaged goods and savory options were very clutch.

Last year December Teacher Event:Lunch with catered meal from Arteagas: approx $700

This year: budgeted $300Cost: approx $150

Handball Mural

In collaboration with CIPCF, it was underlined that there was a need for a photography backdrop.

13 of 34

Handball Mural

Goals:

Efficiency: - should cost 1-2 weekends<$300 for both sides

Speed:-completed before mid/late February in time for the event

Usability:- Design should be primarily on the top of the court, so handball can still be played there

This expedited project will solve more than one problem, and is a self contained contribution towards the Lunar New Year event

Mascot Costume

Begin production sketches and concept work towards a mascot in this style (Face on midsection instead of character face lining up with performer head)

Build something robust enough to be used for at least 5 years that is warm and cute, a little bit generalized and basic, but can be used for boosting school spirit

Work backward from a day in April/May to plan:

  • A student voting opportunity
  • Debut at a school event / end of school year assembly

Fun Run Update

.

18 of 34

Fun Run - Next Year, based on Teacher Survey

  1. We should do a Fun Run again for 2024-25
  2. Late September is optimum. We should try to get timing for the end of the week (Thurs/Friday)
  3. We should reduce cost while increasing volunteerism and community.[We still need professional assistance, but we can increase our workload and optimize our output.]
  4. We should try our own incentivizations, including more experience based rewards, and/or Bringhurst branded small goods

19 of 34

Fun Run 2024 Requirements

  • Event should be set in mid/late September
  • 2 week lead up to the event should be planned in, with daily updates to the donators
  • Incentivization for donors should be planned ahead of time, ideally with daily drops and/or reminders of what group incentives are being worked toward
  • Respect the teachers’ time and have them on board with the scheduling and execution
  • Main organizer or #2 needs to be on site on the day of the event
  • Adjust the flow of the run to help out the the TK/K students ( 4 corner lap counting stations)
  • Have a T Shirt Strategy: affordable and profitable shirts that are passed out in time for the run, encourage re-use of shirts, etc
  • Be positive. There needs to be a spirit of moving forward and “Building a Better Bringhurst”
