A ManSEA Award was developed this year for schools to honour the work of Wayne Digby
Last year Wayne won the Manitoba Environmental Industries Association’s Lifetime Achievement, to honour him for a lifetime of accomplishments
Wayne grew up in Western Manitoba (Roblin)

A graduate of the University of Manitoba with an undergraduate degree in Agriculture and Masters in Adult Education from St. Francis Xavier University
He was an agricultural scientist, with a lifetime of work in sustainable agricultural research and practices in Canada, Africa, Trinidad, Guyana, Suriname, and the Ukraine
He was also an avid volunteer with 4-H Clubs, various environmental groups, CUSO, Manitoba Historical Society, to name but a few

This award was created to honour Wayne’s work

The Wayne Digby Sustainable Energy award is dedicated to the advancement of students in grades 11 and 12, that are intending to pursue post-secondary education in the environmental sciences field
This includes studies in electrical or solar education, as well as other forms of post-secondary education in the environmental sciences

Award Submission Outline

The student must complete a bio submission accompanied by:

an essay about their project - or area of study
The focus of this project should be on renewable or sustainable energy
For example, this could be a science project, recycling program, or a heat recovery strategy method

The award winner will be notified two weeks prior to the ManSEA annual conference
The award will be presented at the conference where the winning student will make a brief presentation of their winning submission
The award will be $400 and will be presented to the winner at the ManSEA conference held annually each April.

Introducing - Tim Feduniw

Tim is the Director of Sustainable Economic Development for the City of Selkirk
Born and raised in Winnipeg
Decades of senior ec-dev experience across W. Cda.
Currently responsible for Selkirk’s planning, economic development and municipal land bank
Past member of national/provincial/regional boards
Frequent presenter at provincial and national events

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Tim Feduniw is the Director of Sustainable Economic Development for the City of Selkirk, Manitoba.

As part of the municipality’s senior management team, Tim is responsible for planning, economic development and Selkirk’s municipal land bank.

With decades of experience across Western Canada, he has held senior economic development roles in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

Tim has been a part of numerous boards and committees at national, provincial and regional levels covering a range of interests that include business, the environment, economic development, healthcare and community.

He uses a values driven and outcome focused approach that embraces key economic development principles.

Tim is a frequent speaker having presented before organizations that includes Decentralized Energy Canada, QUEST Canada, The International Economic Development Council, Saskatchewan Professional Planners Institute, the Manitoba Planning Conference and multiple others.
