Purpose of Monthly Meetings

  • Monthly States’ Call: Agenda primarily consists of a federal updates, training opportunities and/or peer presentations on state-specific organizing work, and closes with State Updates/RB’s
    • As-needed basis: in-kind support to state campaigns. Eg. P2P, email, sharing data lists, can also include comms support, job board support, overall resource sharing, etc.
  • Monthly/Biweekly GNDN x WA Call (Optional): This space is intended to be a consistent time and place to reconnect and focus on the state table. I’d love to hear current priorities and current highlights, challenges coming up, or to hear questions and/or concerns on areas relevant to our shared mission.
    • Challenges: excellent space to bring them up and potentially see the issue included in a cohort or huddle meeting! – more on the next slide

2024-2026 Strategic Overview

  • Primary Strategy: Win a Green New Deal through massive federal investments in climate, care, jobs and justice.
    • While federal investments from the IRA and IIJA package totaled over $1T, a just transition to a renewable energy future will require an investment of at least $10T by 2030. We will take a swing at additional federal legislation, including the must-pass vehicles in Congress, in 2025 and 2026. To do that, our role is to align partners, the public and politicians around the framework of the GND.
  • Plank 1: Develop a comprehensive package of transformative GND legislation for the next governing moment
  • Plank 2: Strengthen the movement ecosystem and public narrative around a GND
  • Plank 3: Demonstrate legislative victories in key states, tribes, and localities
