Go to Layers

  • Add New Layer
  • Open Files Window
  • Go to Portrait location
  • Drag into Layer 2

  • Create a New Layer
  • Name the layer. Call it something like “face layer”
  • Select the pen tool

Step 4. Draw the Face Outline

  • Create a New Layer
  • Name the layer. Call it something like “face layer”
  • Select the pen tool
  • Draw around the outline the face

Step 5. Edit and Refine the Face

  • You’ll end up with this
  • You will need to use the Transform and Appearance tabs to edit this so that it is see-through.
  • You will also need to curve the harsh edges. This takes patience.

Change the Fill to transparent.

Making the facial components: Lips, Nose, Eyes, Ears, Hair and other items you are wearing.

Step 1: Lips

  • Same steps as before.
  • Pen tool. Make anchor points, Anchor Point tool.
  • Make a small curved line for the bottom lip.

Step 2: Nose

  • Same steps as before.
  • Pen tool. Make anchor points, Anchor Point tool.
  • Make small teardrop shapes for nostrils.
  • Edit the anchor points to make super smooth edges.

Step 3: Eyes

  • Similar steps as before.
  • Ellipse tool for making circles.
  • HOLD SHIFT AS YOU DRAW.
  • Change the properties until you get full black circles.
  • We will edit the colour of the irises and reflections later on.

Use V to select, copy paste.

Use the colour picker to change the colour of the palette.
