February
- 18th: School Closed- Professional Development Day
- 21st: Presidents Day, school closed
Unbound and Rooted Academy
- Math: Students worked on multiplication, long division, word problems, multi digit addition/subtraction (with and without regrouping), and measurement.
- Lang. Arts: Students are finishing up their autobiographies. They have also worked on decoding, spelling, paragraph writing, parts of speech and comprehension skills.
- Social Studies: The students have learned map skills. They have also researched and learned facts about where they live in the world: including their continent, country, state, and city. They are working on identifying where all 50 states are. So far, they can identify where 25 states are found.
- Math: Depending on the group/level, students will begin learning about expanded form, computation strategies, measurement, fractions, computation strategies, writing number to the hundred thousands, and reading graphs
- Reading/L.A.: Students will continue to learn grammar/punctuation usage, writing strategies, literature, decoding, and comprehension skills.
- Science: I plan for students to learn about coding and robots. I am currently purchasing materials and working on curriculum. More detailed info will come in February’s newsletter
Language: We are currently working out the details for interested students to partake in Spanish class. More information will come soon.

- Dec/January Outings: Due to covid, we will only be experiencing virtual outings this month.
- Tuition Increase: The 2022-23 school yr tuition will increase monthly by $25 per student. This calculates to $3.54hr per child; thus, the new monthly tuition for the 2022-23 school year will be $425 per month. You can find this updated information in the school handbook.
- “Intent to Return” form:
- We love having your child as a student at Unbound and Rooted Academy and hope you choose to return for the 2022-2023 school year. Because enrollment is limited, we want to make sure that your child has a space reserved for next year. Please note that there will be no guaranteed space reservations for students who do not return their intent to return forms by February 4, 2022. Your child has a copy of the form or you can download and print the form from the “Important Docs” tab in the school handbook.
- Parent/Teacher Conferences: I am available next week for parent teacher conferences (Jan 24th-28th). We will discuss your child’s progress, go over work samples, and discuss a goal and plan to ensure that your child continues to grow. Please fill out the conference form to schedule a day and return it to your child’s teacher.
- Covid Protocol: We have added a new health and safety action plan in our school handbook in order to attempt to keep our student, staff and families safe and comfortable during the COVID-19 pandemic.
