QUESTION from The Outsiders:
RL.6.6 How do you think the opening chapter might have been different if it were written from the POV of a soc?
RACE ANSWER:
The opening chapter would have been written differently to make the Soc’s sound better and the greasers sound worse. For instance, on p. 3 Soc’s are described as kids who “jump greasers and wreck houses and throw beer blasts just for kicks”. If a soc were writing the book, they would speak more highly of themselves!
