Main climate problems in Bahia

Droughts are climatic phenomena caused by the insufficiency of in a given region for a very long period of time. This phenomenon causes important hydrological imbalances.

There are various forms of mass loss that can include a wide range of ground movements, such as rockfalls, mud flows, and debris flows. A frequent reality.

It is nothing more than the momentary accumulation of water in certain places due to a deficiency in the drainage system.

Refers to changes in the Earth's atmosphere that may impact the environment or human health, through contamination by gases, solid particles, suspended liquids, biological material or energy.

Brazil is the 6th country in the world that suffers most from climate catastrophes

UN warns that water shortages could be the new pandemic. Droughts triggered losses of at least $124 billion and affected more than 1.5 billion people.

Petrópolis, the number of victims has reached 139 during landslides. Salvador has a total of 26 landslides and another five property collapses, due to the heavy rains that hit the city.

World population exposed to floods has grown by more than 20% in recent decades. Rains in Bahia already left 20 dead; more than 470,000 people were affected.

Almost the entire population of the world (99%) breathes air that exceeds the quality limits recommended by the WHO. Deaths caused by air pollution increase 14% in 10 years, says Ministry of Health

How it all began…

It all started in May 2022 where we were challenged by NASA: “WHAT FUTURE DO WE WANT?”

Revolutionary ideas emerged, where the three best passed to the second stage of the HACKATSCHOOLS, international stage.

Young teenagers from Escola Municipal Professor Antônio Carvalho Guedes, at Capelinha do São Caetano, with their revolutionary ideas, want and will change the world.
