Agenda Books

  • Agenda books are to be signed every night except over the weekend.
  • They are another open line of communication between us.
  • Students will receive a DoJo point for the signed agenda.
  • The agenda book teaches the students responsibility.

* A note about homework *

  • Homework should take most students between 30 minutes and an hour at the most.
  • It’s important that homework not be a painful experience not only for students, but parents too. If it wasn’t covered or understood in class, I will not assign the same concept for homework.
  • If, for any reason, your child cannot complete or doesn’t understand a problem on the homework, please write me a note in the agenda or message me and I will go over it in class.

Spelling Tic Tac Toe Boards

I had many questions concerning Spelling homework. Your child will receive a Spelling Board whenever we begin a new story. I have modeled all of the activities in class so they can complete them at home. They will have 4 nights to complete 4 assignments – 3 from the board and 3 times each. Some of the activities like Delicious Words or Clean Words just require a parent signature or a picture to prove your child completed it.

I use Class Dojo for behavior management in my classroom. Class Dojo encourages students to earn points for good behavior. They get to earn points for their avatar by doing positive behaviors like being on task, walking quietly in the hallway, and being helpful and kind. They also could lose points for negative behaviors such as being off task, excessive talking, and so on. I can reward the whole class or an individual student with a click of a button.

I also feel Dojo is a great resource for parents as well as it comes with parent codes that allow you to log in and check on how your child’s day went. Your parent codes are on your child’s desk. There is also a message box you can use to message me and I you. At times I will post pictures of activities we are doing in class.

Dress Code Policy

  • Holes and rips in jeans are not permitted
  • Hood and hoodies are not permitted to be worn in the classroom.
  • Shirts must have sleeves (Spaghetti straps and tank tops are not allowed).
  • Pants with cargo pockets are not permitted (this is a security concern).
