France ruled that the upper areas for over 200 years!

Setting up farms along the coast in French speaking Quebec.
All of this warfare wiped out most of the Native American cultures.

All signs, newspapers, and restaurant menus are required to be in French.
The food is more like you will eat in France than the rest of Canada or the United States.
