For God so loved the world
John 3:16-17
John 3
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.
John 3
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Numbers 21
6 Then the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people, so that many people of Israel died. 7 And the people came to Moses and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord and against you. Pray to the Lord, that he take away the serpents from us.”
Numbers 21
So Moses prayed for the people. 8 And the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent and set it on a pole, and everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.” 9 So Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on a pole. And if a serpent bit anyone, he would look at the bronze serpent and live.
Serpent?
Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made.
Serpent?
Revelation 20:2 And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, 3 and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while…………………….
10 and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
If the Serpent represents the cunning and craftiness of Sin, Evil and judgement. Why was he put on a pole?
Galatians 3:13 —for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”—
Deuteronomy 21- “And if a man has committed a crime punishable by death and he is put to death, and you hang him on a tree,……………for a hanged man is cursed by God.
2 Corinthians 5:21
21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Romans 5:10
10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.11 More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
John 3
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
John 3
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
John 3
18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
16-18 “This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was.
(The Message Paraphrase)
He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person’s failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.
John 3
(The Message Paraphrase)
John 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
