Overview

Purpose of the Lesson: There is value of social justice education. This lesson is a small beginning to providing students with an opportunity to analyze why things are the way they are and help to chart a path forward with them in their study of Social Studies.

Inquiry Question: What do your students want you to know about their understanding of justice and desire to take action? What are their fears in this moment? What gives them hope?

How can we as citizens ensure policy makers see the humanity in the people they write policy and laws for?

Write a persuasive letter to a person who has the power to make positive change to policy.

In your letter include:
