Reporting your Absences Online

Steps for reporting when you will be out of your classroom AND someone needs to cover your class(es). This includes a sub or another teacher.

  1. Go to Skyward FIRST EVERY TIME.

Check the box Sub needed, then it

will take you to Frontline.

  • In Frontline:

If another teacher in your building

is covering your class, turn OFF

Sub Required.

If the district needs to arrange for a sub, keep Sub Required turned ON.

If you do not do this correctly,

teachers CANNOT GET PAID for covering your class.

Entering Absences from Human Resources

  1. Always start with Skyward. It is our approval system for any time you are out of your classroom. EVERYTHING must go into Skyward (professional leave, field trips, curriculum reviews, BAS days, NVCI training, Union business, PDF committee, coaching, illness, bereavement, earned personal leave, jury duty, etc.)
    1. If you miss the 6:00am deadline, contact your building secretary for help.
  2. If it is not in Skyward - it is not approved. If it is not entered into Skyward timely (or at all), it may become unpaid time or earned personal leave (if you would like to receive pay for it).
  3. Last minute illnesses/emergencies happen. Just make sure to enter it into Skyward within 24 hours or give me a heads up to assist if needed.
  4. When you enter an absence, remember to change the date to the date of the actual absence. The system defaults to the day you are entering it. This is the number one mistake people make.

5. Any leave of more than 4 days needs to have a Leave of Absence

form and medical certification (doctor’s note). LOA forms need to

be turned in to the building secretary for admin signature before

being send to ESC. Please email or call Shannon Fabick if you have

any questions about this.

6. Jury Duty is its own special thing. You need to fill out a Leave form,

and turn in the jury summons to your building secretary for an

admin signature, then it is sent to Shannon Fabick at ESC. ONLY

enter days you actually serve on a jury into Skyward. Shannon will

go over all the expectations if you find yourself in this situation.

7. Planned Earned Personal Leave needs to be entered into Skyward

at least 3 working days in advance.
