How your Camera works.

Crop Sensor vs Full Sensor

• Full sensors generally more expensive
• More image to work with
• Popular Crops: Canon EOS R7, Sony a6000 series Fuji X2 H2s
• Full sensors are generally “better” but crop has some useful applications

Navigating the Camera Menu

• Don’t get overwhelmed
• Can always reset if you make a mistake
• Experiment with different settings
• Don’t accidently format your card!

• Both Edited
• RAW has higher dynamic range and information
• RAW is much larger
• RAW must be exported to share to social (usually)
• JPEG closer to wysiwg (what you see is what you get)

• Unedited RAW is “flatter”
• Jpeg is closer to finished as soon as photo is taken
• RAW files require work
• JPEG is basically edited by software

• RAW unedited and RAW edited
• RAW has more potential
• RAW sacrifices “Live” functionality
• That means no Loop/Bounce/Long Exposure
• Shooting RAW Long Exposure requires third party app

Camera Modes

Aperture, ISO, and Shutter Speed

Depth of Field

• f/1.2 – f/ 4 to focus on subject
• f/8 – f/11 for wider depth of field
• After f/11 start to see diminishing returns

Shutter Speed

• 1/500 or faster to freeze action
• 1/60 or slower use a tripod

What is ISO in Digital Photography?

Rule of Thirds

• Guide not a rule
• Enable Grid on your Camera
• Look for leading lines
• Can always crop later
