  • Running Head
    • The running head is a shortened version of the paper’s full title, and it is used to help readers identify the titles for published articles.

    • However, even if your paper is not intended for publication, it should still have a running head.

  • Page numbers should be on top right.

  • Method #1: Introduce the quotation with a signal phrase that includes the author's last name followed by the date of publication in parentheses.
    • According to LastName (year of publication), “Quote” (p. 1).

    • According to Jones (1998), "Students often had difficulty using APA style, especially when it was their first time" (p. 199).

  • Method #2: If the author is not named in a signal phrase, place the author's last name, the year of publication, and the page number in parentheses after the quotation.
  • She stated, "Students often had difficulty using APA style" (Jones, 1998, p. 199), but she did not offer an explanation as to why.
