How Did I Make It?

-Used my knowledge about the house and some pictures to recreate it to the best of my ability.

-I worked for hours in and out of class making sure all the details were just how I wanted them and looked the best they could.

-Mr. Swift helped me transfer my 3D model into 3D printing software and get it printed

The Process

  • Took longer than I wanted
    • couldn’t decide what exactly to do
    • too much attention to detail
    • working off my memory, no real dimensions
  • I gained new skills in sketchup and 3D modeling
    • some background knowledge/experience
  • I learned about 3D printing
    • I have never used a 3D printer
    • learned about the software I used through lots of struggles and misprints
  • I enjoyed this project
    • I like all the little tedious, detailed parts even though they take a long time
    • I learned new skills and progressed on skills I already have

Why Did I make This?

  • The house is really important to my family
  • I already know that I enjoy 3D modeling
    • I’ve done sketchup projects before that I loved and spent lots of time on
  • I wanted to make a larger project that covered multiple different skills
  • 3D printing is outside of my comfort zone

What Would I do Differently?

  • I like all the little details, but I spent a lot of time perfecting things that didn’t need to be perfect
  • I would have been more careful with the foundation of the house because it caused problems when we tried to 3D print it
    • It was really detailed and I kept adding to it and changing it
  • Overall I really like this project and am proud of it so there is not much I would want to change
