My favorite Unit is Unit 2 since the topic was about passion and creativity so it helped me understand what the concept of passion is and how I can connect with it.

I could be quite okay at crocheting, I could make plushies or basically anything that could bring someone joy or comfort.

Crocheting

Playing games

Chatting with friends

First Think

Second Think

  • Some challenges or opportunities I see are to be able to advance or refine my skills
  • While driving to school I see a ton of construction happening so I would like to see how it can benefit and affect the people
  • A big problem I care about is poverty and I want to learn how I help just a bit
  • A challenge I notice at school are students not following the rules or basically just being loud.
  • While driving to school I see sari-sari stores and some plots of land, I want to what their purpose Is.
  • A big problem I know about is abuse or sexual abuse and I would research more about it.

Choice 1: How the government can influence us through the news?

Choice 2: How can AI and the influence of the internet can lack imagination?

Choice 3: How can technology help the environment grow?

I know...

  • Daily new stations can give info or a statement about the government
  • The news won’t be able to document everything
  • Some news stations can be run by the government themselves

I know...

  • People’s screen times can go quite high
  • The internet can be a bad influence to people’s brain
  • AI can create ideas for people making them not have enough creativity

I know…

  • Certain forms of technology made the environment worse
  • The use of resources are too excessive
  • Everyday factors of our life can have an effect on our earth

I’d love to learn…

  • What is the process of making a news livestream?
  • In what ways can the government Impact their people?

I’d love to learn…

  • What can actually happen after being on the influence of internet for a long period of time?
  • What type of technology can be the most damaging to us specifically?
  • Are children the most affected on this topic

I’d love to learn…

  • What affects the quality of resources?
  • How can we make tech more advanced to the fact that it won’t harm the environment?

Reflect on your interests and the social issues.

Are there any ideas that connect to technology?

What might you want to explore during your exhibition?

Student Name

Topic we would study...

Why I think it’s a good fit..

Shreya

AI and technology specifically in space.

I think Shreya is good at leadership so she could help me come up with ideas. Another thing is that she can manage her time properly while I take quite long to finish tasks. We could work together more and we can work together out of school.

Fritz

Based on his Canva the topic we would study is the impact of social to kids.

Based on group tasks and being partners I think Fritz and I can work quite well with him. I can depend on him to do some tasks and we can split the tasks equally. He can research properly and Fritz can help himself sometimes.

Bella

We can do something about AI or cyber bullying.

I think Bella can help me in preparing and making ideas. I can trust her to do her tasks while still collaborating and working together. We can have the same goal to accomplish and I know I’ll have fun working together.

My Transdisciplinary Theme

I chose this theme because…

Central Idea

“Technological advancements impacts social issues, driving change and promoting sustainable development”

Key Concept

Line of Inquiry

  • How do people spread misinformation?
  • How can we prevent the spread of misinformation?

  • What are the long-term effects of fake news in people’s beliefs and behavior?
  • How can misinformation spread quickly and influence public opinion?

  • How does technology develop our understanding in safety and security?
  • How can we spread awareness about misinformation through technology?
  • I chose this topic because I’m interested to know how misinformation can impact our daily lives in positive and negative ways. Another thing I’m interested in is what causes misinformation and what makes people believe fake news or clickbait. I’m also intrigued in how all types of information and news are connected to each other except for the fact that they are all a type of information. However, I am also curious about how people come up with fake information.

Idea 1

Idea 2

Idea 3

  • My first idea is to make a tech fair with my group mates but with a few others.
  • Make a video campaign about how to prevent misinformation and in general just facts about misinformation.
  • Create a game about how misinformation spreads and before playing there will be a page about misinformation and fake news before playing.

My Skills

  • Delete the skills you will not focus on

  • Explain what developing this skill might look like

Ex: Thinking

I want to use the design cycle to

create a ______

I will use Tinkercad

to 3D print a _____

I showed having research skill because my research notes was all about finding out and research about the questions that I made to answer. Before doing my research notes I needed to create research question and while doing this I needed to have critical thinking skills.

I showed being a communicator because I was able to express my action plan ideas and other ideas with my mentors and maybe put them into consideration.

13 of 38

Knowledgeable

We develop and use conceptual understanding, exploring

knowledge across a range of disciplines. We engage with issues and ideas that have local and global significance.

I had to explore and analyze so many articles to see if it was relevant for any of my research questions and I tried to make my action plan have impact and be sustainable.

Thinkers

We use critical and creative thinking skills to analyse and take

responsible action on complex problems. We exercise initiative in making reasoned, ethical decisions

During my whole process in the PYPX, I had to analyze my research notes to see which statements would answer my research questions and which statements would fit my slides. Before doing my research notes I had to think of ideas and research questions to answer.

Balanced

We understand the importance of balancing different aspects of

our lives—intellectual, physical, and emotional—to achieve

well-being for ourselves and others. We recognize our interdependence with other people and with the world in which we live.

Even if I procrastinated, I still did my PYPX everyday and I tried to be balanced by doing my tasks every now and then while still having fun and calling with my friends. This is to balance out everything happening and to have a healthy well-being.

Know

What do you want to know and understand?

Be able to

What would success look like? What skills might I use?

Action

How would I make positive change in my community?

  • I want to know how misinformation impacts people in positive and negative ways
  • I want to understand what makes people want to spread fake news
  • I want to know how we can help stop misinformation from spreading

I need to use my thinking skills because going through this process I needed to reflect or think of ideas to lead to a new discovery. I also need to use research skills since our “research” notes is all about finding out and understanding our research questions and while doing that I had to research and find sources.

Sustainable - My action plan can become more sustainable by me updating the Canva every now and then and have the QR code still be active or working.

Impactful/effective - I want my action plan to be effective to any grade or age and impactful to people’s brain like how misinformation can make people believe fake news.

My timeline...

Week 1 Tuning In/PYP Framework

Date: Feb 10-March 7

Week 2 PYP Framework/Choosing Topics

Date: March 10-14

Week 3 Finalizing Topics/Mentor & Parent Orientation

Date: March 17-21

Goal:

I think we did these tuning in activities so we can get ideas for our three pypx topics.

Goal:

This week was about choosing our topics and research more about them. We need to research and learn more about all our topics to do the defense.

Goal:

In week 3, we will find out our topics and have a parent orientation. I just want to know who my group mates are and my topic for the exhibition. I think we will also find out our mentors.

Reflection:

In my tuning in activities, we had to analyze some pictures and we also had to read an article about AI. After we analyzed the photos and read the article we had to answer questions and reflect.

Reflection:

In week 2, I already I had to choose my topics but I did change them quite a bit. In this week I also had to defend my 3 topics in order to get one of them.

Reflection:

In week 3, I found out my topic and group mates, I was quite happy with the topic I got since it was my Number 1. This week we also had to do our transdisciplinary theme and I had to explain my topic on canva.

Adjustment:

I think what I should’ve done better was my time management, I didn’t finish answering the on time.

Adjustment:

I think I should’ve research more about my topic and think about my action plan and questions more.

Adjustment:

I think I should’ve focused and do more work because we had to do some of the PYPX framework.

Week 4 PYP Framework/LOIs

Date: March 24-28

Week 5 Research Notes

Date: March 31-April 4

Week 6 Research Notes

Date: April 7-11

Goal:

In week 4, we created questions leading up to figuring out our own lines of inquiry.

Goal:

In week 5 I hope to finish our lines of inquiry and now start on research notes and meet with our mentors.

Goal:

I think we will now start our research notes and start doing interviews.

Reflection:

In week 4, we did our central and line of inquiry with our group mates. We figured and decided our class central idea that lead us to make lines of inquiry.

Reflection:

In week 5, I am now done with my lines of inquiry and now finalizing my research questions with my mentors. We are now about to start with research notes.

Reflection:

In this week I just started doing my research notes and finished my first interview.

Adjustment:

I think we should’ve used our time more wisely and be focused.

Adjustment:

I think this weeks flow was pretty good but I think again I should’ve focused and ask more help from my mentors.

Adjustment:

I don’t think I needed to change anything about this week because it was flowing well.

Week 7 Finalizing Research Notes/Taking Action

Date: April 21-25

Week 8 Staging/Practicing

Date: April 28-May 2

Week 9 PYP Exhibition (The Big Day)

Date: May 5-9, 2025

Goal:

  • Finish doing research notes
  • Think of an action plan

Goal:

Maybe starting thinking of an action plan and finish my research questions.

Goal:

  • Do my action plan
  • Memorize my spiel.

Reflection:

This whole week we just did research notes and tried finding sources.

Reflection:

I finished my research notes and I am now doing my Canva or slides. We did start thinking of an action plan.

Reflection:

On May 7 we did my action plan and we started doing dry runs. This is the week when PYPX started. Also the day before PYPX I did my panel board with my mentors.

Adjustment:

I think I should’ve tried scavenging the videos more.

Adjustment:

I think I should’ve look at my information better and think of my action plan sooner.

Adjustment:

I should’ve been more confident and maybe less distracted.

Know

What do you want to know and understand?

My Success Criteria

  • I want to know how misinformation impacts people in positive and negative ways
  • I want to understand what makes people want to spread fake news
  • I want to know how we can help stop misinformation from spreading

I was successful because I able to finish my research notes and even though I realized some of my sources didn’t answer my research questions but I was still able to find sentences or statements that would answer my question.

I could’ve improved by understanding my research questions more and try to go further into search to find better and updated sources.

36 of 38

Be able to

What would success look like? What skills might I use?

My Success Criteria

I need to use my thinking skills because going through this process, I needed to reflect or think of ideas to lead to a new discovery. I also need to use research skills since our “research” notes is all about finding out and understanding our research questions and while doing that I had to research and find sources.

I was successful because I was able to finish my research notes and although I had a hard time with finding things to answer my questions, I still pushed through and answered them.

I could’ve improved by thinking of more effective and impactful ideas and be a bit more creative.

37 of 38

Action

How would I make a positive change in my community?

My Success Criteria

Sustainable - My action plan can become more sustainable by me updating the Canva every now and then and have the QR code still be active or working.

Impactful/effective - I want my action plan to be effective to any grade or age and impactful to people’s brain like how misinformation can make people believe itself.

I was successful because I was able to inform mostly younger grades and from there seeing people’s results from the Canva get improved after explaining how to detect misinformation made be feel accomplished.

I could’ve improved by trying to think of a more sustainable action plan and it should’ve been more active and safe for the environment.

I used to think that misinformation was false information that spread across the internet with a bad intent.

I used to think PYPX was a very difficult task that I couldn’t find any joy in. This was because of people taunting me about how “hard” PYPX was.

but now I know that misinformation is false information that is spread without any bad intent and what I thought before is actually disinformation.

But now I think I stressed over PYPX too much and it was easier than I thought and in the extensions it was actually fun. Getting help and being with my mentor was more fun than I thought.
