Blended learning vs traditional

In essence, blended learning combines the best of both learning environments, in-person and online learning.

A key element of blended learning is that in addition to the in-person experience, it also uses digital tools to support and enhance your learning experience in and outside of the classroom.

We will be using CANVAS, a learning management system that allows you to access course information and resources. In CANVAS you will be able to find and submit assignments, share course documents, and stay connected with me and with your classmates.

Communication & collaboration: Communication will include messages, email, and CANVAS discussions. On approved and flex-days, learning will be online using Zoom for video calls. Do your best to check announcements, your messages and email daily and respond within 24 hours during the week.

School’s Acceptable-use Policy

AMHS Student Handbook

  • Computer and network use.
  • Students shall not attempt to access other user’s accounts, files, e-mails or data. Nor shall students attempt to alter the software or hardware configuration of any school computer
  • Wireless network access is available for school related purposes on a limited basis and is not a universally supported service.
  • Expect no privacy!
  • AMHS maintains a web content filter. The filter compares requests for a website against a list of offensive and questionable websites in order to reduce the risk of student viewing inappropriate material. Use of a proxy internet host to circumvent a blocked site represents grounds for loss of computer use privileges and possibly other disciplinary action.
  • Students may not play games on the computers.

Time management tips

Set realistic goals.

  • How many hours will you dedicate for this class?
  • When is the best time for you to do homework and study for this class?

Create a schedule.

  • What days and times you will be studying?

Keep a log of your activities, then evaluate your activities and revise your plan as needed.

  • Did you allocate sufficient time to meet your goals?
  • How can you be more efficient with you time?

Time management & organization: It is important to create a schedule that includes at least 20 minutes of daily homework or studying for this class.

Devoting 15 minutes a day is better than working 1 hour a week.
