COSTUME AND PROPS ANALYSIS

• My genre for the magazine will be making is music, therefore I have to analyse the sort of clothes people wear and certain props they may have. Costume and Props in music magazines are important as they connect to the type of music magazine they are shooting for (e.g. Rock, Pop etc.). It can also identify their character and emotion they may be showing in the photo, therefore linking costume and props to the genre is important.

WHAT DO PEOPLE DO IN MAGAZINES?

• We are mainly talking about the subject in the photo. Depending on the mood and atmosphere the character may create gives us an insight to what the rest of the magazine may be about. The clothes the person wears and the props they posses can tell the audience what type of music magazine it is. For example, gold chains and baggy clothing may suggest that the music magazine is Hip-Hop related.

MY IDEAS OF COSTUMES AND PROPS

• The way someone is dressed will depend on the type of music the magazine will be associated with. If the magazine is music in general, then there are many ways in which I can dress my subject and the props they will hold. The genre is what will determine the way I will dress my character and the props that appear in photos.
