FLOURISHING GOAL

Our Collective Responsibility Flourishing Goal is

    • By fostering a culture of collective responsibility and continuous improvement, our aim is for every student to successfully achieve their long-term intake goals. Through active engagement from all staff in a continuous cycle of reflection, adaptation, and support, we will ensure that each student receives personalized guidance and resources to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Evidence & Engagement

How do we know this is our flourishing goal?

  • We know that our goal statement encompasses the direction of all actions and decisions we make at LOS. Focusing on the entire student

Who are we at our best?

  • When the team at LOS meets the individual needs of each student - doing what is required for student success

What might we be? What are the possibilities?

  • An alternative education location for ALL students in Wolf Creek School Division - Grades 7-12

What would support innovation in this area?

  • Sharing our practice and vision with the WCPS community, sharing of academic and physical resources with fellow schools, WCPS alternative schools shared PD Day(s) - share best practices

What are the barriers to achieving our flourishing goal?

  • Insufficient Resources in regards to focusing on social and emotional betterment. Data collection - How do we know if our actions are making a positive change? Student and family engagement - how do we impact those who are not engaged with the school community? Balancing - school staff are responsible for many things - how can we ensure we adequately strive for betterment in all of these areas?

How can we overcome those barriers?

  • Prioritize resource allocation, seek additional funding or grants, and explore partnerships with local businesses and community organizations for support. Implement change gradually, provide continuous support and training, and highlight quick wins to demonstrate the effectiveness of new approaches. Develop clear guidelines and provide ongoing training to ensure consistency. Monitor implementation and provide feedback and support as needed. Develop targeted intervention programs, provide personalized learning plans, and engage parents and community resources to support students' holistic needs. Ensure access to specialized support services, provide professional development on inclusive teaching practices, and adapt materials and strategies to meet diverse needs.

Forefront of AI - How can it build our instructional practice & meet the needs of our teachers?

  • Year 2 - attendance at AI K-12 Conference in Anaheim
  • It is our plan to have as many team members as possible attend this conference over a multi-year period
  • Researching best practices
  • Inform, teach, build skills with all LOS team members
  • Use of AI tools to quickly and effectively differentiate materials to meet the needs of students on an individual basis
  • Teaching students how to use AI & Tutor GPT effectively… as a support for their learning
  • Provide parent information regarding the role of AI in student support and success

What evidence tells you this is an area of focus?

  • Feedback from Lacombe Outreach stakeholders - focusing on a well-rounded students, beyonds academics, has been identified as a top priority
  • STP2 meetings have underscored the need to focus on students academically, socially and emotionally
  • SSW data collection - students are struggling with aspects of life beyond academics. Students and families are looking to the school for guidance and support

What evidence will you use to know the work you are doing in this area is making a difference?

  • CRM data
  • SSW data
  • STP1 data and feedback
  • Parent feedback
  • AEAM data
  • WCPS Divisional Survey data
  • LOS administration exit survey data
