I am a graduate of Sacramento State with a BA in English and a MA in teaching.

I have been a teacher since 1999. I have taught 1st, 4th, and 6th grades, as well as 7th and 8th grade English & social science. I have also taught 9th, 10th, & 11th grade English. Guess which is my favorite!

I love photography and working in my garden.

I love spending time with my family and being outdoors.

I enjoy hiking with my two corgis.

What will class look like each day?

  • Mathematics: We will use the district approved SWUN math curriculum. We will cover a variety of topics such as place value, addition & subtraction, word problems, measurement, and time. Students will have the SWUN homework along with their in class textbook. SWUN math videos can be accessed online.

  • ELA: We will be using the district approve Journey’s curriculum. We will read both fiction and nonfiction texts. We will cover summarizing, main ideas, vocabulary, spelling, and much more. We will cover narrative, informative and opinion writing.

  • Science: We will continue to use the Amplify science program. The three units we will cover are: animal and plant defenses, light and sound, & Spinning Earth.

  • Health: We will use the district approved The Great Body Shop curriculum. We will cover safety, nutrition, exercise, goal setting, Social-emotional development, & staying healthy. If you would like to view the 1st grade health curriculum, it is available for viewing in the front office.

  • Social Studies: We will continue to use the district approved Studies Weekly curriculum. We will cover map skills, our environment, inventors, transportation over time, & communication over time.

  • We have an amazing library here at Northlake. We will have class library time, and students can enjoy reading!

Homework

  1. Goes home on Monday.
  2. Return to school on Friday.
  3. Consists of Math, Spelling, Reading
  4. Should take 15-20 minutes a night.

  • Drop off:

The class will meet on the blacktop (near the covered structure.) We will begin walking to the classroom at 7:55.

  • Dismissal:

You may come to the classroom. The classroom door will be open at 2:40pm. 12:40pm on Wednesdays.

  • Small pre wrapped treats are acceptable

  • All birthday items should be delivered to the office
    • Please, no balloons or stuffed animals
