Band/Orchestra:
“What’s the Difference?”
“Why do band and orchestra start in different grades??”
String instruments are available in different sizes (⅛, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, full) for kids of different sizes.
Band instruments are one-size-fits-all and are more easily handled by 5th graders.
How to Be an Outstanding Orchestra Parent:
1. Provide an instrument in good playing condition.
2. Provide a regular time and place for daily practice.
3. Ask your child to play for you!
4. Arrange lessons with a study buddy.
5. Take your child to middle school, high school, and adult-level orchestra concerts.
6. Provide support and encouragement to stay the course, even through “road bumps.”
The most important ingredient is…. YOUR SUPPORT!!!
