  • Ensure your child attends school regularly & punctually.
  • Inform the school office promptly about any reason for absence/lateness.
  • Keep school informed about family changes and information, never mind how small.
  • Follow school’s uniform policy, unless individual arrangements are negotiated with head teacher.
  • Provide your child with the equipment they need, PE kit, outdoor clothing, swimming kit – labelled with name.
  • Show an interest in what your child learns at school. Read the Planner.
  • Make time to complete learning at home activities together.
  • Look for things in the local area to link your child’s learning with family activities e.g. visit the library.
  • Attend as many Parent Evenings, Annual Reviews and other meetings as you can.
  • Complete permission slips to help your child participate in learning across a wide range of activities – in and out of school.
  • Read information school provides, leaflets, letters, website, Facebook, newsletters.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask questions by phone, seesaw etc.
  • Give constructive feedback and respond to consultations to inform school planning.
  • Supervise your child’s access to IT and be aware of the schools E-policy.

  • Ensure families have clear & timely information about school holidays & closures. Share information regarding school policy on attendance, lateness, holidays etc.
  • Explain school policy on uniform, including labelling & jewellery, promoting pupil independence.
  • Provide learning planners to inform families of work planned and how they can get involved.
  • Share information about events/activities of interest.
  • Arrange meetings effectively to enable parents to participate.
  • Keep up to date records and implement permissions and treat information confidentially.
  • Respond to questions within a reasonable timescale.
  • Consult with parents and consider their feedback when planning school provision & school improvement.
  • Supervise pupil access to IT. Implement Torfaen’s CB E-policy effectively.
  • Provide effective curriculum to ensure all pupils make appropriate progress which is balanced, broad, authentic and meets the individual needs of all pupils. Provide link member of staff for families through Family Person Centred Lead ensuring robust home/school relationships to enhance pupil success and support family and pupil emotional wellbeing.
