In-Class, Senior Project, and Directed Study

• DESN 399/499 Directed Study – usually one student working with a faculty advisor on a quarter-long project (i.e., Spokane Scholars website redesign)
• DESN 463 Social Practice Design works with 3 community partners each quarter (i.e., SNAP, Women Helping Women Fund, and Feast)
• DESN 490 Senior Capstone works with one community partner on a quarter-long project (i.e., League of Women Voters “Visualize Voting” campaign)
• DESN 491 Senior Project – usually team of 3–4 design students working with a faculty advisor on a one, two, or three quarter long �(i.e., Thrive International – Refugee Immersion Experience project �with Ann LeBar’s HONS 130 Refugee Voices class and Kass Kebede’s SOCI 385 Global Migrations class, W2025)

Department of Communication Studies

• CMST 480 “Pre-Internship Workshop”
• Two-credit course designed to help students enhance their professional and internship/job search skills
• How to conduct an informational interview, how to develop a resume, how to create a LinkedIn profile, how to utilize the Eagle Career Network to network, etc.�
• PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America)
• Open to all majors-students take the lead organizing professional development workshops and events
• PRSSA “Pro-Tour” with industry professionals
• “Open to Work” Series in partnership with the EWU Career Center
