Student Government

An application is required for Student Government.
Application is due January 30th and interviews are Saturday, February 7th.
If you plan to apply, register for two, one-semester electives and choose Student Government (both semesters) as your first and second alternates. Student council will be substituted in for two electives if you get accepted.

Off Periods

Sophomores may have one off period (admin dismiss) each semester, if you have passed all your classes and are on track for graduation.

Off periods are automatically placed in IC for you.

If you DO NOT want an off period, please make a note on your yellow form.

Requests will be honored on a case-by-case basis.

Note: Off periods do not accrue (if you do not take them next year, you do not get to take more as a junior/senior).

Concurrent Enrollment Courses

Concurrent Enrollment (CE) means you are enrolled at both RCHS and a community college/university. You will receive college credit if you score a “C” or better.

If you plan to take a CE course, complete the steps for applying to ACC and get your Student ID Number (ACC S#)

Registration Preparation

NEW ONLINE PROCESS

Please complete your YELLOW course planning worksheet

Receive teacher approval/signatures on any advanced coursework (AP, honors, CE, level II or higher in any class)
Review the RCHS Course Guide to learn more about your class options.
Talk with your teachers about their recommendations.

2. Complete your Online Course Selection Form. This will list all of your course options and any AP or Honors contracts. YOU MUST LOG INTO YOUR SCHOOL EMAIL TO COMPLETE. This form will be emailed to you and can help you complete Step 3.

Registration Timeline

Step ONE: Complete the 10th grade course planning worksheet AND online course selection form

Step TWO: Register for Classes in Infinite Campus

January 30-February 6: IC Portal opens; enter your classes.

Seminar, math, and off periods will already be in IC for you. Enter the rest of your selections from your yellow form.
Also, register for 5 alternate electives in order of preference.

February 2-5: Counselors Available for Questions During Lunches and Access

Feb 11 & 12: Counselor Check-Ins During Math

Each of you will meet with your counselor one-on-one.
Counselors will ensure you have all signatures and completed forms.

Overriding into a Course

Students are the most successful when they register for the courses their teachers recommend them for.
All override forms can be picked up in the Counseling Office.

ALL signatures are required - you must talk to your current teacher AND the department chair before overriding
ALL override forms must be returned to the Counseling Office by February 6th.

You must have completed the required prerequisite class.
Keep in mind that taking a class higher than what your teacher recommended may be more rigorous, have higher expectations, and may not be in your best academic interest. You will not be allowed to level down once you override into a higher level course.

A Note About Weighted Grades

AP classes will continue to receive a 5.0 weight.
CE classes will also receive a 5.0 weight.
Honors courses will receive a 4.5 weight.
Level 3 and higher World Language classes will receive a 4.5 weight.

What Happens in May…

Teacher Aide, SSN Peer Coaching & SSN Peer Intern

You will not register for Teacher Aide positions, SSN Peer Coaching or SSN Peer Intern until May. Please register for another elective for now, then pick up an application for these classes in May (available in the Counseling Office). This is also true if you would like to fill an off period with one of these classes. Please note that one semester of TA is worth 0.25 credits.

Summer School

Credit recovery and initial credit registration will take place once summer school offerings are released in April. Register for the classes you need now, as we cannot guarantee summer school availability or acceptances. Please note each summer school course costs $300.

Schedule Corrections

The goal is that you will be able to view your schedule in May. Counselors plan to host a schedule change event toward the end of May. More details to come.

Final Thoughts

If you hope to take a higher level class than your teacher is recommending, you will need to complete an override form. Be cautious and aware of the below guidelines:

You must have completed the required prerequisite classes.
You will not be allowed to level down once you override into a higher level course.
