  • If you are interested in enabling language interpretation, please set that up in your meeting settings before the meeting. Please note: this feature only works in individual Zoom Meetings and NOT in users’ Personal Meeting Rooms.

Zoom Pro Tips

  • When possible, log into the Zoom room 2 minutes before your meeting to make sure your microphone and camera are working properly. Audio quality is best when using a headset with mic (earbuds with a mic are fine).
  • Including some contracting norms at the beginning of a Zoom Meeting is a good idea:
    • Should participant cameras be on? If their cameras are on, they can be seen by everyone else in the meeting.
    • Framing and lighting: be ready for your close-up!

Zoom Pro Tips

  • Gallery view
  • How can participants change their name?
  • When your meeting is live, be sure to welcome everyone into the room and ask them to mute their mics when they aren't speaking.
  • Show them around: explain where to find the chat, and if you anticipate a big group, consider asking a colleague to watch the chat while you are speaking/facilitating the meeting.

Zoom Hosting: Co-host vs. Alternative Host

The host must assign a co-host during the meeting. Co-hosts cannot start a meeting. If a host needs someone else to start the meeting, they can assign an alternative host.

Alternative hosts: Shares the same controls as co-hosts, but can also start the meeting. NOTE: Alternative Hosts MUST have Licensed (not Basic) accounts.
