The Problem:

Wasted

Practice Time

Why Junior Drivers Struggle

⚠️

No Pit Stops = Permanent Decisions

F4 and F3 races run 40-45 minutes non-stop. Every decision is permanent—drivers can't reset strategy, change tires, or adjust setup. One wrong call costs positions.

📉

Tire Management Mystery

Most drivers don't understand tire degradation curves. They run fast lap 1-3, panic when pace drops at lap 10, push harder, destroy tires, and finish confused.

3 of 13

Why Trial-and-Error

Costs Precious Track Time

The Gap Between Lap Performance and Race-Distance Strategy

❌ Tire Management

Traditional sim racing doesn't model how tire grip degrades over a full race distance. Drivers can run full power every lap in sim—real races don't work that way.

❌ Competitive Context

Sim racing fails to model how 15 other drivers interact with you in real time. It can't predict how competitors will respond to your moves or when they'll drop off pace.

❌ Race Strategy

Sim racing teaches isolated lap performance. It doesn't teach when to push vs. conserve tires for race distance, or how to exploit competitor weaknesses.

The Core Problem

Without simulation, drivers waste

3-4 laps per practice session

figuring out tire behavior, competitive positioning, and sustainable race-distance strategy. They

arrive at races unprepared, relying on hope instead of validated data.

Mechanics

Per-Lap Decision Loop

1

Tire Grip Calculation

Base grip = 1.0. Age degradation: ~0.8% per lap after lap 5. Temperature effects: optimal at 80°C, penalties for cold (<70°C) and overheating (>90°C). Final grip = base - age_factor - temp_factor + skill_variance.

2

Lap Time Prediction

Reference lap time ÷ grip level = predicted lap time. Push decision: aggressive drivers reduce time by 0.3s but risk consistency. Conservative drivers add 0.2s but maintain tire health. High-skill drivers: ±0.02s variance. Low-skill drivers: ±0.25s variance.

3

Overtaking Logic

Can overtake if: gap < 1.0s, my speed > ahead speed + 0.3 km/h, skill > 0.65, not under safety car. Success probability scales with driver skill (40-80%). Failed overtakes result in contact incidents.

4

Event Handling

Safety car (5% per lap): bunches field, resets strategy. Mechanical failure: 5% speed penalty. Weather change: increases tire wear by 1.5x. All agents re-evaluate race strategy after events.

Key Design:

Empirical tire models (fast) instead of complex physics. Stochastic agents

(realistic) instead of deterministic behavior. Trades absolute accuracy for speed—50+

simulations in <30 minutes.
