Immediate Need: Operational Funding

Without additional funding of $4.75 Million per year for 5-years, the District will consider the following cost-saving measures:

  • Increasing class sizes at all schools to reduce staff
  • Limiting
    • course titles offered at high school to reduce staff
    • district’s ability to fund Act 20 required training, assessment changes and curricular upgrades
  • Decreasing
    • faculty/staff positions at all schools
    • employee health care benefits
    • bus routes which will increase maximum student ride times over 90-minutes one way
    • current mental health services for students
    • extracurricular/athletic offerings for students
    • student technology (i.e. 1-to-1 devices)
    • building budgets (i.e. field trips)

Revised Plan for Funding Operational, Critical Maintenance and Enrollment Growth Needs

Split funding requests into three referenda questions and elections

  • Operational - $4.75 M for 5-years: April 2024 Election
  • Capital for Critical Maintenance - $22M amortized over 20-years: Nov. 2024 Election
  • Capital for Enrollment Growth (new/renovated High School or other solution): no later than April 2026 Election
