-We would like to highlight some of the common platforms we use! Know that your student is already familiar with these.

-Everyday we meet as a class on Google Meet/Zoom. Google Classroom is like a student’s virtual locker. It is the place where they can find all of their materials for class. This is where they can view information from the teacher and access assignments. Grades will not be visible in Google Classroom. Grades are updated in HAC only.

-Depending on the goal of the day’s lesson, we will use different tools. For example, we might use Peardeck if our goal is full class interaction. We use FlipGrid for students to be able to record them speaking on a topic. We use Quizlet, Gimkit, and Kahoot! to help students learn vocabulary in a fun and interactive way. We occasionally use Screencastify, which is a different way to provide input through teacher-recorded videos. This could include new content or a reading aloud that students can watch (and rewatch). It is especially helpful if students are experiencing tech issues or are absent.

What do we study in Spanish 1?

Our level 1 course will prepare students to be successful next year in our level 2 course.

In level 1 we introduce a foundation of language skills and provide support for students to increase their proficiency level in the language.

This year, we will use our target language to learn about and discuss getting acquainted, schooling, family, friends, and pets, free time, food, and vacations.
