Hmong Women Leadership Institute (HWLI) Program

• Provides Hmong women leaders an opportunity to develop into powerful community leaders
• Program began in February and ended in June
• Gained leadership skills and tools
• Honored my cultural heritage while striving for gender equity

• Painful experiences that creates limiting beliefs and leads to fear-based actions

Community Project 

• Topic: How Do You Find Your ‘Unicorn’ (AKA: The Perfect Partner)?

• Objective: Identify how single and long-term relationship individuals changed their views on their ideal partner

​

• Conducted surveys via Google Survey (10-15 mins or less)

​

• Discovered that when participants were younger, their views of an ideal partner were influenced by:
• Self, family, and friends
• Culture and Society
• Social Media and Upbringing

​

• In the present, participants’ views of an ideal partner changed because of experience and maturity

​

What Have I Learned

• I can choose to allow my story and my identity to empower me
• Be mindful of the western lens that I bring into situations and conversations
• Be confident in the gifts that I have to offer as a leader
• Create a balance between critical thinking and understanding
