Hāpara Essentials: What is Hāpara?

Hāpara is a digital classroom management tool built for Google Workspace for Education.

• Helps teachers easily find student work across Docs, Slides, Drawings and more.

• Allows teachers to support learning in real time with feedback and monitoring.

• Encourages digital citizenship by guiding responsible online behaviour.

• It allows educators to work alongside students and provide valuable feedback in the moment.

Hāpara Essentials - The Beginnings

After the Manaiakalani cluster of schools adopted Google Apps for Education in 2010, they realized they needed a better way to manage learners’ activities in the new digital environment.
Hāpara was originally launched with only Teacher Dashboard.
Named "Hāpara," a Māori word meaning dawn/fresh start.
Inspired by John Hattie's research on Visible Learning.
Currently has 2.2 million users in over 40 countries.
Used in 15% of U.S. medium/large school districts.
Offices in Chicago and Auckland.
