Join us for an introductory online session designed to help you build confidence and clarity in using Hāpara’s key features in your everyday teaching and support roles. This session will guide you through the core tools—Teacher Dashboard, Highlights, Workspace, and more—showing how each one can streamline your workflow, support learners, and provide greater visibility into student activity. Whether you’re completely new to Hāpara or just looking for a refresher, you’ll leave with practical tips to get started with this powerful platform.

Hāpara Essentials: What is Hāpara?

Hāpara is a digital classroom management tool built for Google Workspace for Education.

• Helps teachers easily find student work across Docs, Slides, Drawings and more.

• Allows teachers to support learning in real time with feedback and monitoring.

• Encourages digital citizenship by guiding responsible online behaviour.

It allows educators to work alongside students and provide valuable feedback in the moment.

Hāpara Essentials - The Beginnings

  • After the Manaiakalani cluster of schools adopted Google Apps for Education in 2010, they realized they needed a better way to manage learners’ activities in the new digital environment.
  • Hāpara was originally launched with only Teacher Dashboard.
  • Named "Hāpara," a Māori word meaning dawn/fresh start.
  • Inspired by John Hattie's research on Visible Learning.
  • Currently has 2.2 million users in over 40 countries.
  • Used in 15% of U.S. medium/large school districts.
  • Offices in Chicago and Auckland.
