- Who are we and what do we want to achieve during VKO and beyond?
(1) WHO ARE THE PEOPLE IN OUR TEAM?
The first step of VKO is to get to know your team members better. Laying a social foundation in your team and knowing each other well helps in critical phases and tough situations.
Task:
Share your Pecha Kucha slides and Day in the Life presentations with each other. Ask questions to the presenters! Make it a conversation.
Based on what you learn about each other, make a Team Canvas and fill in the People, Roles and Values sections.
(2) WE COME TO THE GKO WITH DIFFERENT STARTING POINTS
One possible source of conflicts in teams is different expectations when it comes to what you want to achieve and different motivations for doing the project. What is, for example, ’good work’?
Task:
Individually, write down your motivation and expectations for a) the project and b) the global kick-off week. Why are you here? What do you hope to achieve? What are your goals? How do you know if you have done a good job?
As a team, share your individual motivation and expectations on the Team Canvas. Are they similar? Different? Will you need to compromise as a team? Fill out the rest of the Team Canvas.
(3) PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE
Having structure and roles in your team will set you up for success in the future.
