An Introduction�for Families �and Caregivers

Gist: This presentation is designed to introduce i-Ready Classroom Mathematics to the families and caregivers who support students in your class. It describes the different elements of i-Ready Classroom Mathematics (the Diagnostic, Student Worktext, and Student Digital Experience), what class looks like when the i-Ready Classroom Mathematics is implemented, and where to find the information and resources within i-Ready Classroom Mathematics to support students as they learn.

Gist: If students click on bookshelf, they’ll see a digital version of their worktext, a place for their notes, and instructional videos.

Suggested script: “On the bookshelf, students have access to a digital version of their worktext (which is great if they accidentally left it at school), have a place for their notes, and can find instructional videos (which are perfect for catching up when a student is absent or wants to hear something they learned in class again). The videos are also great for families and caregivers if you want to see how an idea is taught in class.”

FYI: If teachers have enabled the Spanish Math eBook it will show up on the student bookshelf with the English version. Ask families if they need/want this feature. Spanish speaking family members may be the primary readers of this resource!

Summary: “So, how can you help students with their math this year? You can check the Student Dashboard to help students stay on top of their assignments. You can also read the Family Letters (in the worktext and the Student Bookshelf) each week to stay connected with what they’re learning in class. If students miss class or they’re having trouble with a topic, check out the develop session videos with them. On the Student Bookshelf in the top right corner is a link that says “Family Resources.” If you click on that, you can find documents and videos that can help you understand how students are learning this year’s material and see how it’s connected to earlier learning.
